What a display

We haven’t managed to sight the Aurora yet. Apparently the night before last it was viewed from Mt Wellington in Hobart for a few hours. But little ol’ Launi didn’t seem to get a view of it. This amazing sunrise this morning keeps us interested.

Have a fabulous week

A Warm Winter Glow and Crisp Sparkling Stars!

What is going on up there? It looks like I was missing something spectacular. Or is it the ominous black cloud that makes the sky look so amazing?

Not much happening at the moment. Too tied up with family commitments to walk much. Well that is walk much during daylight hours. Though I have to share, the longer dark and the colder days are giving us an amazing natural display from our own patch of earth.

What  a wonderful show everyday as the temperatures drop to 0 overnight. The diamonds that form on the ground and shimmer in the occasional appearance of an early morning traffic light I reflect are always a pleasant reminder of the beauty the cold brings….. as I walk in the dark.

Only a month tomorrow until the winter solstice and the shortest day! Then it will get colder but the days will start to return! Happens so fast I can’t believe it. I’ve missed the best of the autumn leaves already! But I am appreciating the clear nights that allow star gazing. The Aurora Australis is meant to be at the peak of it’s cycle this year. But we haven’t managed to catch a glimpse of it yet! Lets hope the darkness over the next few months will bring it our of hiding. I have an eager family waiting to meet it!

All the best and enjoy your week!

Garden lights at night are a happy sight now it gets dark so early!

How about this. A warm winter glow without a hint of a warm fire. It's amazing what reds and oranges can make of a scene on dusk!
